RE: Damien

Mary-best of everything with Damien and his upcoming surgery.  That darn coumadin is no fun either and is difficult to regulate.  I am doing battle with that now so I cannot imagine how a little man can handle it especially if he is like the little man of ours-he loves vegetables.  I have to keep V-8 juice here and baby carrots as that is what he wants when he comes to grandma's house.  So let us know how it all goes. You will be in our prayers. Hopefully we will see you in Quasky.  -Kathy

RE: Damien

Out Cath date isn't until Apr 1.  We go down Mar 31 and stay because he has to be there early Apr 1.  It took a while to set it up because they needed 2 cardiologists to do this procedure.  I'm not sure why.  Maybe because they're not sure what they're going to do.  His cardiologist thinks the tube they just inserted this summer is a little dirty, and that's why the echo wouldn't show it.  Whatever the problem, they're going to fix it while he's under.  Hope and pray it just needs cleaned.  Haven't explained to him yet.  It would just worry him.  He already hates going down for the Cumadin blood draw.  He's ready to show at Waldron.  don't know about poor old Belle.  Mary

RE: Damien

When I think of Damien, I always think of Belle. What a wonderful dog she has been for him. Have you saved any of her puppies that may have picked up on her temperament to be Damiens companian when she has to retire? I have been thinking of going to Waldron , but it is so cold here (even though today WAS better) I just don't have the gusto to get out and work with the dogs like I should. We (dogs and I) just cuddle up like couch potatoes and wait for spring.
We enjoyed the olympics, however sure glad it was those athletes instead of me up there.

RE: Damien

Surgery postponed.  His white blood cell count was fine - no infection.  Lungs clear.  Temp fine.  Took him to surgery, put him under, and took the final core temp.  BINGO!!  Fever.  No surgery.  They're going to put in a stent.  The tube is being pressed on too tight by the aorta stent.  It's not an emergency now, but will become one down the road.  A balloon wouldn't hold up and would have to be redone.   Now we wait.  Because he was under anesthesia, they will have to wait at least another 4 weeks.  His allergies were full blown because of all the wind.

We had one of Belle's pups at Waldron.  It was the wire pup Damien showed and got a leg on her prominent.  Also have a wire male out of her coming out this year.  The smooth girl we kept out of her died.  She loved to fight the other dogs.  Not too sure what happened, but came home one day after only being gone 3 hours, and found her dead in her doghouse.  Not been fighting, no marks.  Was in by herself.  Just freaky.  The 2 wires are out  of her and our APRI and AKC champ, Fetch.  He's called Belle's Last Hurrah.
